Sometimes all the icons people want on the desktop make the desktop very cluttered. There are methods to arrange the icons in the way you want them. The simplest is to let the computer do it for you. Simply right-click on any blank area of the desktop, hover your cursor over the "View" menu and then left-click on the Auto Arrange option.
Other options for sorting your icons are by Name, Type, Size, and Date. To do this you can take the following steps:
- Right-Click on an empty part of the Desktop
- Hover over the "View" menu
- If Auto Arrange is checked, uncheck it by left-clicking on it. (repeat steps 1 & 2 if the menu disappears)
- Hover over the "Sort By" menu
- Choose any of the options here
Other options to explore are the Align to Grid option (under View) and the good old-fashioned “drag and drop” method.
